B. Sengupta has a PhD in Chemistry and is an Environmental Scientist. He has worked with Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Government of India for more than 30 years in different capacities. He was the Member Secretary, CPCB for more than 10 years (1998-2008). He has also worked at University of Florida, Gainesville, USA on air quality management and control. He has vast experience in the field of Air and Water Quality Management, Industrial Pollution Control, Standard Development, Environmental Impact Assessment and Climate Change. He has published more than 250 technical reports while working in CPCB and also presented/published more than 50 papers in National and International peer reviewed Journals. He has also guided M. Tech and PhD students of IIT-Delhi, JNU, Delhi University, School of Planning and Architecture.
