K. K. Chakarvarti is currently working as an Expert Consultant to Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). Prior to this, he has served as Energy Economist, BEE and Senior Deputy Director, National Productivity Council. During his tenure at BEE, he coordinated various schemes and projects such as Certification Examination of Energy Managers and Energy Auditors (India has now about 12,500 Certified energy managers and auditors); National Energy Conservation Award scheme for industry; Perform Achieve and Trade (PAT) scheme for cement and aluminium Sector, ISO 50001 Energy Management System and prepared Road map and Action Plan for improving energy efficiency for Republic of Mauritius. He has more than 35 years of extensive experience in the field of energy efficiency and coordinated various bilateral cooperation programmes on energy efficiency with Governments of Japan, USA, Canada, Germany, France and Sweden. He also represented India in the various activities of SAARC, UN-ESCAP, Asian Productivity Organisation (APO) and International Partnership for Energy Efficiency Cooperation (IPEEC).
