Sudhir Singhal
Sudhir Singhal has retired as Director, Indian Institute of Petroleum (I.I.P.), Dehradun, India (under Council of Scientific and Industrial Research), where he worked from 1965 to 2003, mainly on application of fuels and lubricants in internal combustion engines and in industrial machinery. Prior to becoming the Director, he headed the Petroleum Products Application Division and the Analytical Sciences Division at I.I.P. He was member of many International bodies including SAE, ASTM, Combustion Institute, etc. He was the President of the Tribology Society of India (TSI) for three years, from 1991 to 1993.He was also the first Chief Editor of the TSI Journal, the periodic journal of the Society. He has published / presented over 250 papers, and in addition, prepared another 250 technical reports on sponsored research investigations. He was actively involved with the Bureau of Indian Standards for over 36 years in most of the fuels and lubricant committees. He also served as member of several significant Committees of Govt. of India including the Auto Fuel Policy Committee, Apex Committee on Hazardous Wastes, Biofuels Task Force of the Planning Commission of India, and many others.
