Coke Stabilization Quenching

Coke Stabilization Quenching (CSQ) is a new wet quenching technology which as of 2007 was only applied in Germany. It brings the hot coke into contact with water from both top and bottom. High quenching rate and low reaction time is the essence of the process. Dust emissions as low as 6 g/t coke have been achieved. Coke moisture after the CSQ is approx 2%. This process produces higher quality coke (depending on the coal quality), which can result in energy savings in BF.

Chinese flag Indian flag Due to water consumption and water contamination risks, and given that energy benefits are marginal, this technology may have limited potential for China and India - particularly if coke dry quenching is applicable.
