A number of international and national organizations, as well as trade and industry associations conduct work that is relevant for improving resource use efficiency and reducing environmental impact of the industrial sector in different countries - either generally or with focus on individual sectors. The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing energy efficiency as a means of promoting economic prosperity, energy security, and environmental protection. ACEEE has conducted research on energy efficiency trends, the potential for process modernization and efficiency improvements in manufacturing, the potential productivity gains from energy efficiency and pollution prevention measures, and policies and programs for accelerating efficiency improvements.

The American Forest and Paper Association (AF&PA) is the nationwide trade association of the forest products industry and enhances public policies that promote a strong and sustainable US forest products industry in the global arena. AF&PA’s member enterprises account for more than 75% of the US’s pulp, paper-based packaging and wood building materials. The association’s membership represents a diverse spectrum of the industry.
Similar to AMCA, American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) develops and publishes a range of guides and international standards that underpin efficiency regulations in the building sector.
Asia Pacific Partnership on Clean Development and Climate (APP) was an international public-private partnership among Australia, Canada, India, Japan, China, South Korea and the United States launched in January 2006. The aim of the organization was to co-operate on the development and transfer of new technologies which enable GHG emission reductions.
The Department of Industry provides advice and policy support to the Australian Government regarding Australia's key industrial resources, energy sectors. The Department develops and delivers policies to increase Australia's international competitiveness, consistent with the principles of environmental responsibility and sustainable development.
Brazilian Portland Cement Association (Associação Brasileira de Cimento Portland) was founded in 1936 in order to promote studies on the cement and their applications. In 1997, the Brazilian Pulp and Paper Association (BRACELPA) was founded as the successor of the National Association of Pulp and Paper Manufacturers. The association is responsible for the institutional representation of the sector nationally and globally. BRACELPA’s headquarters are in Sao Paulo, Brazil. BRACELPA members account for all the Brazilian pulp production and approximately 80% of the Brazilian paper production.
Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) of India is an agency under the Indian Ministry of Power. The primary aim of the agency is to reduce energy intensity in Indian economy by developing, deploying and increasing public and corporate awareness about energy conservation measures and practices. The organization coordinates energy efficiency and conservation policies and programs and establishes systems and procedures to measure, monitor and verify energy efficiency results in individual sectors as well as at a macro level.
