European Federation of Corrugated Board Manufacturers (FEFCO)
The European Federation of Corrugated Board Manufacturers (FEFCO) was established in 1952 as an umbrella organization of the European Corrugated Board Industry. It has headquarters in Brussels and is governed by Belgian Law. FEFCO represents approximately 40 billion m2 of corrugated board production. Over 500 companies are associated with FEFCO. It represents the 750 paper plants and a workforce of 100,000 (FEFCO, 2011a).
FEFCO is active through its technical committees. It also works for standards and paper testing methods (FEFCO, 2011b).
FEFCO’s “Recycling vs. Reuse” brochure compares the benefits of recycling and reuse and concludes that, for several applications, recyclable packaging reduces the environmental impact of the pulp and paper industry more effectively than reuse (FEFCO, 2011c).
