Improved Brownstock Washing

Replacing conventional drum washer units with vacuum pressure with pressure diffusion or wash presses for brownstock washing can reduce electricity and/or heat consumption, while also reducing bleaching chemical usage. Wash presses, in particular, have demonstrated improved energy efficiency and have experienced wider adoption (Kramer et al., 2009. p.92-93).
