International Energy Agency (IEA)
The International Energy Agency (IEA) is an autonomous organization, which works to ensure reliable, affordable and clean energy for its 28 member countries and beyond. IEA has been a key partner in various studies on energy efficiency, energy technologies, and energy policies. It also offers a wealth of information on energy and CO2 emission statistics.
Examples of IEA's work related to Cement Industry
In addition to hosting various events and workshops on energy efficiency in the cement industry, IEA has also participated in research works on energy efficiency and CO2 emissions reduction in the cement industry such as the collaborative work with WBCSD for the development of the cement technology roadmap. The study on “Tracking Industrial Energy Efficiency and CO2 Emissions”, on the other hand, included an analysis of world cement industry which contained energy efficiency of different cement production technologies as well as production, , energy and carbon intensity ,alternative fuel and material usage related information for different countries.
Examples of IEA's work related to Iron and Steel Industry
In addition to hosting various events and workshops on energy efficiency in the iron and steel industry, two IEA publications – namely Tracking Industrial Efficiency and CO2 Emissions (2007) and Energy Technology Transitions for Industry (2009) provide a wealth of information related to iron and steel industry, including statistics on energy intensities and CO2 emissions of different production routes and processes and key technologies with significant potential to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions.
Examples of IEA's work related to Ammonia Industry
In 2009, IEA published an information paper titled Chemical and Petrochemical Sector: Potential of Best Practice Technology and Other Measures for Improving Energy Efficiency. This paper gives an overview of energy efficiency levels and improvement potentials for different production processes in the chemical and petrochemical sector, including ammonia production.
Examples of IEA's work related to Motor Systems
In 2008 IEA has launched an implementing program on Energy Efficiency End-Use Equipment (4E), in which in which motor systems are included through the Electric Motor Systems Annex (EMSA). More information on 4E and EMSA.;
