Verband Deutscher Papierfabriken (VDP)

The Verband Deutscher Papierfabriken (VDP) is the industrial association of the German cellulose and paper industry. The headquarters of the association are in Bonn. The VDP is also a member of the Federal Association of German Industries. The VDP represents the political interests of the paper industry at the national level. As a member of the Association of European Paper Industries (CEPI), VDP is also active in lobbying for the industry at the European level. On the international level, VDP is represented by the International Association of Forestry and Paper Associations (ICFPA).

The VDP was founded in 1872 and has 104 member enterprises. It represents over 90% of the industry’s production and revenues and is therefore the promoter of the largest national paper industry in Europe (Wikipedia, 2011d).

The VDP recently published “Papier machen”, which discusses the whole pulp and paper making process (VDP, 2011a). “Papier recycling” reports that 15.5 million tonnes of old paper is recycled every year in Germany (VDP, 2011b). “Papier Technologie” discusses the German paper industry and existing technologies for pulp and paper production (VDP, 2011c).
